Money challenge-week 3 (50) & a fixed truck door

Well another week of this challenge down and so far so good. Little late posting (since I did actually do this on Friday) because I've been since since December 22 and am just now starting to have enough energy to do anything other than moan and groan on the couch and cry for my mommy and run to the bathroom. Sorry gross I know.
Well anyway I did it and I am grateful.

And wouldn't you know that right after I put the money in the account and the other one in the piggy bank David (husband) comes home from working with a friend to tell me that he went to open the door  to the truck and the spring fell out and it wouldn't open. So since he had to work all weekend it had to stay like that with him crawling over the passenger see to get in and out he had to wait until Monday to take it to the shop.

They told him that it would be somewhere between $50-75 to fix but since we had the spring still it would probably not be much. Yeah right when he went to get it back it was almost $82. AND they didn't even put the spring back in.

And he of course starts stressing about money and how we can't afford this or that. You're right we can't (who really can) but it will be ok and it was. Then again he's probably stressing so much right now because his work keeps sending him home early. Thank God we have only 2 more checks and 1 maybe 2 bills. Granted it's rent but it'll be ok.

So that's my week in a nutshell right now.

Money savings challenge-week 2 (51)

Since I am doing this backward I know it will get easier as I go along but when you have to put in $51 the same week you have to pay all the household bills (except rent) it doesn't seem easy.
However I am proud to say I did it and feel pretty darn good about myself.
I have yet to transfer money to my savings account yet, mainly because my bank does maintenance (sp) at night and it wouldn't go through until morning. So maybe I'll just wait until then.
Anyway week 2 is complete (almost) and next week (the week I have to buy all my youngest son's birthday stuff) will hopefully be just as easy (easier).

Update: 1/14/2014-The deed is done again. I really need to learn to put money into the bank on Friday instead of waiting until 4-5 days later.

Frozen shirt experiment

Read on facebook about a frozen shirt experiment so we decided to try it.
We took a baby shirt and wet it (with hot water since hot water freezes faster) and then set it outside on the grill. 5 minutes later we checked on it and it was frozen to the grill.
Brought it in and it was completely frozen and able to stand up on its own.

Frozen shirt standing.

Proof nothing was inside making it stand up.

No church = hell = joke

Why is it that so many people joke about hell like it's some kind of joke? Like it's a fun place to party and live it up?
Why do so many people (christians at that) act like if the weather is bad and they don't get to go out to get to church that God is going to be mad and punish them?
Why do these same people act like God will send us to hell for having to skip church when it's beyond our control but can act like they want any other time.

Don't they understand that God is a loving God and would never send us to hell just because we are not able to attend church one Sunday morning?
I myself this morning made the decision to stay home because the news people were predicting that it was going to drop to freezing temps and more snow was coming so I made the decision this morning to stay home and let David drive to work instead of riding his bike (we only have 1 vehicle). Especially since he is sick and hacking up everything he eats/drinks yet continues to go to work.

Excuse me if I'm wrong but I believe God does want us at church but he understands if we can't make it one day because of life's circumstances.

And to top it off another question. Why do so many people act like God and hell doesn't exist. As if they can say "Well I don't believe in hell therefore it can't exist and I can't be sent there". Do these people realize that God's existence isn't based on whether we believe in him or not and neither does hell's existence.

God exists (and yes I know not everyone believes that). However I have experienced too much in my life to deny him.

To me saying God doesn't exist because I don't believe in him because I have never seen him is the same as saying Texas doesn't exist because I don't believe in it because I've never been to it.

We may not have ever been to Texas but we see the effects of things associated with it and people who have experienced it firsthand. It's the same way in my opinion with God.
We may not be able to see him but we do see the things he has created everyday and we have met people who have firsthand experience with him.

Money savings challenge-week 1 (52)

Well today starts week one of my new adventure into the money savings challenge that I have found all over the web and decided after much thinking and praying decided to do.
However I am going to be doing it a little different than most probably.
First I am going to do it backwards so instead of taking out $1 on week 1 I am going to take out $52 on week 1 and count down from there. It just makes more sense to me to do it this way because not only will we only have to put in a few dollars in the closer we get to Christmas but when we do the $52 the first week and count down it will feel like less of a chore and more like a fun adventure.
Also the other different thing I am going to try my best to do is that each week whatever amount I take out to save I am also going to put that much into our savings account (an account we never use) and let it accumulate all year so at the end of the year hopefully instead of having the amount that you are suppose to have at the end of this challenge we will have twice that.
The only problem that I can see right now with doing this challenge at all is that my youngest son's birthday is this month so money will be tighter than tight but the husband will get 5 checks this month as he gets paid weekly so it won't be too bad.
So anyway I have yet to get to the bank today to even start this however the husband will be going to the bank after work and will be able to pull it out and before I go to bed tonight it will be saved.
Now the hard question where do I want to put this away at? Better known as which of my 20 + piggy banks do I want to save this in? Yes I collect piggy banks. :)
I could be wrong but I'm thinking that doing it backwards is the way to go for anyone. Least I hope it is for us.
Well that is where we are at right now. It is technically "taken out" of the budget but not yet "put away".
Will update when it is.

Wish me luck.

Update: The deed is done. The first installment of the challenge is complete. Talked to my husband this morning and told him that I am doing something a little different and need his support without him knowing 100% what I am doing and he said "I think that's for the best since we all know my spending habit". If we have it he wants to spend it so here's to a great husband who is supportive of this adventure.
